Avalon is the large, complex crag between Bell Buttress and Vampire Rock, on the south side of the Canyon. Avalon is about 500 feet high and is divided into three tiers by two big ledges that span the entire crag from side to side. The crag presents an abundance of good sport climbs, but crack enthusiasts may also find entertainment. Most of the routes face south or west and are sunny during the winter.

Approach. Park just beyond the Practice Rock (8.2 miles) or directly across from Avalon. Cross the steam via Tyrolean (or hop rocks), then hike up talus along the west side of the crag. Trails lead to all significant features. Please use these trails to reduce slope erosion and protect plant life.
